Pharaoh's Daughter at the Carnegie Hall
Word from: Jake

Yes, Pharaoh's Daughter, who graced us with their presence at a number of shows, last week took part in the big fundraiser at the Carnegie Hall, alongside with the likes of Richie Havens. How fantastic! And they so deserve to play Carnegie. With her immense craft, non-commercialism, sophistication, Basya is my role model of the Jewish Artist. And my favorite live music act in the city. She's actually playing tomorrow night at the Stone, at 10 pm. Not only that, she's booking this club for the whole month, bringing down lots of great bands, including Rashanim and Sway Machinery (with the Antibalas horn section!) Word on the latter - I've seen this collaboration in Makor a few weeks ago, it was tremendous. Not easy listening for sure, but grinding avant-garde - it had me mesmerized. Antibalas, by the way, is a rocking afrobeat band, that made it really big as of late. Their sax player, leader of the horn-section, recorded with Tom Waits and such. I massively recommend checking them out.

This did!! Sorry about that. I found out yesterday as well, but was too late to post the cancellation note. Basya is working on the new album, so I guess there won't be any live shows for some while. Did you see the act that played instead of them?
