Mima'amakim celebrates Jerusalem Word from: David

On the eve of Yom Yerushalaim, Mima'amakim held a night of poetry in the heart of Jerusalem's New City. It drew an intimate crowd of poets, poetry lovers and teenage yeshiva students waiting for the comedy act that followed the poetry. Halevai-if only we had videotaped the diverse poems read, as they touched on on Israel and the diaspora, the personal and arcane and even (believe it or not) the religious experience. May they be the Mevaser (pick an archaic English word to as your translation: tidings, herald, harbinger) of future events.

Adam Eliahu Berkowitz read three poems, including 'Mister Rabbi Man' published in a previous Mima'amakim journal.

Aryeh Bernstein spat fire at Babylon with some politically conscious spoken word pieces.

Ilan Cohen read three poems, inflected by his acting skill.


David Druce read a short story about a magically unrealistic baguette stand.


David Kilimnick, proprietor of the Comedy Basement sang a funny little song about Janglo.
