Dream-Digging the Sephardic Music Fest
Word from: Jake

That other Russian Jewish writer, Gary Shteyngart is on NYT Ten Best Books of 2006 list. Good job. I hear they base their choices on the color scheme of the back-cover, which I agree is pretty impressive.

Rashanim is having a release party at Zebulon today, their new CD Shalosh is great. I really want to review it - have so much to say - but who's got the time.

Sephardic Music Festival is coming. Lots of great shows. With no bias involved, I personally recommend the Dec 19th Dream-Digging in Bar Yochai's Cave show. The theme is "music which is more than just music" - meaning, slam poetry, theatrics, jazz-improv and all such. And it's at the Tonic, the coolest avant-venue in New York. A certain humble punk-poetry ensemble, Frantic Turtle Trio will be there, performing a set of mystical verse.
