Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Lit
Word from: Jake

The first Sami Rohr Award was given to Tamar Yellin, for her novel Genizah at the House of Shepher (Toby Press). I've never heard of her before, but found a few stories and the novel extract here. The runners-up are are Amir Gutfreund, author of Our Holocaust (Toby Press, translated by Jessica Cohen), from Israel, and Michael Lavigne, author of Not Me (Random House), from San Francisco.

Three Jewish writers I never heard of, one of them published by the company I work for. Sometimes I feel like the world is passing me by! I did read the galley of Nathan Englander's new book, but I'll save the reactions for another post.
