Numb and ridiculous staring at the wall, trickling
down my cheek, fluttering and splattering on the table of the elements
telling a story of humanity and race, a feeling of helplessness as
the elements bond and form pacts of mutual
exclusivity and depart this world having left it a better place, knowing
that so much has been accomplished because of their ingenuity and fortitude as they
resist the shifting attitudes about sentimentality
and mentality in general with all the colonels and lieutenants
listening eagerly for the one symbol to release them
from their bondage of love of ideals and people that
constricts their every thought and desire until
the caves of their mouths roof in on their children and
they are left with mementos and ashes of a situation
preventable only by the wildest intervention lost in the
shuffle and anticipating waves of humiliation unequaled ever and ushering in the Messiah
on a donkey of a notion searching for the nation to follow and cherish and cradle
until the implosive power of representation prevails.

Hi Daniel,
I was reading your poem and I was wondering if it was designed to be read out loud. I think that a lot of the word-play and the splitting of images that you often do via line breaks would be really effective as spoken word. Was that your intention?
Thanks for posting this,

Dena-
I guess it could work that way. I think my style is most influenced by the beat poets. This was sort of a cathartic work (refer to the title) with less of a specific artisitc vision: just a feeling that needed to get out. With that said, I have experimented with recording myself reading other work of mine with Sonic Youth feedback in the background...
Thanks for the forum-
